Spin impurities in Fermi and Bose systems.

The Kondo problem of a spin impurity in a metal has played a pivotal role in the development of modern physics. I will show that the model greatly simplifies in the limit of large impurity spin, such that the entire crossover from the weak coupling to the strong coupling fixed point can be analytically tracked. I will also discuss a new bootstrap method to study static impurities in systems described by conformal field theory with applications to the 2+1d Ising model.
