An effective description of the Read-Moore fractional quantum Hall state from the Nappi-Witten supersymmetry.

We propose a non-relativistic model based on a Chern-Simons theory invariant under a supersymmetric extension of the Nappi-Witten algebra, which captures the physical properties of the Moore-Read state in the fractional quantum Hall effect. The boundary dynamics of the theory is described by a supersymmetric Wess-Zumino-Witten model, which reduces to a chiral boson and a chiral Majorana fermion, in agreement with the boundary states of the Moore-Read state. After breaking the supersymmetry through a goldstino, the spin-3/2 field becomes massive. By integrating out this fermion field, we obtain a purely bosonic topological action that properly encodes the Hall conductivity, Hall viscosity and gravitational anomaly.
