Marginal operators and the Euler density anomaly
In the context of conformal field theory, I will discuss recent work with Itamar Shamir (1907.04952, 2103.06311) about boundary and defect contributions to the anomaly in the trace of the stress tensor. In particular, we argue that the Euler density anomaly is affected by the expectation values of marginal operators. Conclusive evidence for this dependence will be presented in the cases of two and four dimensional defects and boundaries.
