Black holes galore in D>4, Roberto Emparan, ICREA
I will give an overview of the progress and some open questions on black holes, in D>4 and sometimes in D=4. The emphasis will be on underlying ideas rather than on taxonomy or classification. A main theme will be that, in contrast to the classic results of the 1970's which greatly restricted the possibilities for black holes, the introduction of additional dimensions, or of a negative cosmological constant, open up mechanisms that give rise to a huge variety of shapes, topologies, hairs, and dynamical evolutions of horizons.
