Dual perspective on quantum Hall to insulator transitions, Sri Raghu, Stanford
Abstract: Quantum Hall to insulator transitions (QHITs) are among the oldest and most studied examples of quantum critical phenomena. In this talk I will discuss problems that still remain open in this subject, and present a dual approach to QHITs based on composite fermion representations. I discuss the mean-field and fluctuational aspects of the dual theories, and discuss how they provide a complementary understanding - and in many instances, a conceptual advantage - to current descriptions of QHITs based on the electron representation.
